Laziness is usually a great way to save money but Forbes Magazine published an article over the summer about how laziness is costing you. Forbes’ solution is to do more work to but of course the easiest and best solution is to get lazier. You see, working hard and then being lazy is costly, but if you start out lazy you’ll save time and money in the long run.

• Not Choosing The Best Rate On Your Savings Account – Go to BankRate and find out where the best 1 year CD rate is and invest there. Even if you don’t feel like if you’ve got enough savings to worry about interest rates you can’t be that lazy.
• Not Opening A Retirement Fund – Of course it all depends on what you do with that money but it’s usually not laziness that prevents people from contributing. It’s greed (or wanting a few extra bucks per paycheck).
• Not Sending In Rebate Offers – Why not find better ways to save right off the bat like buying refurbished, waiting for price cuts before new products are ordered, or just not buying that third iPhone.
• Not Paying Attention to 0% Deadlines – Don’t use credit. If you can’t afford it don’t buy it.
• Waiting To The Last Minute To Send Mail – We’ve all done it so instead of mailing some documents, send them as an electronic fax from home. FaxZero has very cheap rates.
• Not Taking Advantage of Corporate Wellness Incentives – Companies pay you to sit in a room and ignore what they’re trying to teach you. That’s not lazy?
• Not Negotiating – Ok, no argument here.
• Oversleeping – Improved memory is one reason to take a nap and daydreaming can help increase creativity so spread out your sleeping throughout the day.

Hone your laziness into a cost cutting weapon simply by doing nothing. Money is generally exchanged for services you can do yourself, crap you don’t need, and food that makes you fat. Forget doing stuff and sit back and let the savings begin.

1. Skip Haircuts – You don’t have to looking like Joaquin Phoenix or sacrifice your style ladies by leaving in an extra month or two between haircuts. Growing hair is free and cutting it isn’t so grow it as long as your pretty face can handle (or your job allows).

Instead cut off your water heater at the fuse box when you’re not using it and let it fire up 30 minutes before a shower or using a major appliance.
3. Go Paperless - Have all of your bills automatically deducted from your accounts so you don’t have to write checks, fill out statements, or walk to the post box.
4. Watch Everything Online - Cancel your cable subscription since most everything is available legally online at websites like Hulu. Everything else can be found on shady websites with Chinese writing all over them, and of course there’s always porn.
5. Don’t Get Pets - Not only do they cost a lot of money upfront, they are the source of unexpected expenses and are lots and lots of work.
6. Wash Separate and Dry Together – Chances are you do two loads of laundry – one for whites and the other for colors and dry them apart as well. You’ll cut the electrical usage of your dryer by making the most out of the heating cycle by drying all of your clothes together.
7. Skip The Gym - Ok, sitting on your butt all day might not be that healthy. Try these 6 home exercises to get you started in front of the TV.
8. Drink Water - It’s basically free and good for you.
9. Meditate - It’s the art of doing nothing yet focusing intently at the same time. It’s good for the body, mind, and relieves stress. Meditation is a good excuse to force yourself to relax and do nothing for 15 minutes a day.

The laziest way to keep a tight budget is not to give any out to freeloaders and drug addicts the less fortunate. Britney Spears has been flinging her money around without hesitation, but only donated $500 to charity last year court records show.

Although she’s often photographed eating fast food, Spears declares she spends about $4,758 per month dining out. Meanwhile, she spends zero on education, savings and investments and gives $500 a month in charitable contributions, the documents said.
